Outfit Inspo: Brunch in Florence

Long before kids, I spent a long autumn weekend wandering boutique hotels in central Florence with Hannah (my friend in Munich) and we agreed: the city demands an outfit that holds its own among the Renaissance buildings. Linen, a midi length, sandals you can actually walk on cobblestones in, and a sunhat that earns its keep when you're sitting on a piazza with cappuccino at 11 AM. This is my curated outfit for Brunch in Florence - the dress is forgiving after a plate of cacio e pepe, the shoes survived a full day on Italian cobbles, and the hat saves your face from the Tuscan sun. (One small Italian warning, since I'm thinking of it: at coffee bars in Florence, standing to drink is a euro or two; sitting at a table can triple the price. Stand at the bar like a Florentine.)

Invest in good packing cubes - they make living out of a suitcase so much easier. Keep your phone in a waterproof case - it doubles as rain protection and lets you take worry-free photos near fountains. Bring a reusable water bottle - tap water is fine in Florence and the public fountains (the famous fontanelle) are free. We never leave the hotel without a compact first aid kit - blisters from cobblestones are real.
